The Two Different Sides

2025-09-25

Emma Wildflower

The mornings are so dim

Getting darker by the day

Cold brittle breath slaps you in the face

Even the wasps, half dead, still sting

What was alive starts dying

Rotting on the ground

While the animals hide away

Knowing they’re not safe nor sound

But yet, the woods hush when you come close

Whispering memories so dear

The yellow light of the leaves

Shimmers in the colour of your gaze

Warm blankets snuggle you close

As farmers walk through their fields of gold

Here the world isn’t falling

It’s folding,

Getting ready to come alive again

I hate fall, but love autumn

For it’s just

Two different sides

Of the same season
