Dreams mean many things
Each to their own
They’re vast, complicated, and dangerous
But important all the same
Some believe dreams are things that happen
When you close your eyes
Little movies that spark imagination
It takes your mind to a vast, foreign place,
Where you can be free of all burdens
And dance on the clouds and rivers,
Because while you’re in that dream,
You are protected from the real world
To others, dreams are what you wish to be,
Your hopes of the future
Remains of the past
You strive to accomplish your dreams
Even if they’re far out of reach
You know to take a risk
Because even if you fail,
If everything you do everything and you still end up where you were before,
You were no worse off than if you didn’t try at all.
There are still more yet who say dreams are dangerous,
They shouldn’t be strived for or held
It’s too hard for them to know
If everything’s going to turn out alright
They just watch the dreamers go out into the world,
Getting themselves crushed, little by little
Until there’s nothing left
Except hope, and despair.
It’s better to be practical, they would say
For you could never get hurt.
To me, though?
Dreams are more than what could be said
They’re the images you see at night,
Filling your heart with more
They’re the hope filling your body,
Daring you to believe and take a risk
They’re the dangerous things to do,
Risking it all on one outcome
But what are they, more than that?
They’re the things the world couldn’t live without.
For if you couldn’t smile in your thoughts,
Dream for all your passions and beliefs,
Dare to try, even if you fail
There’s no reason to be living at all without them
And that’s what dreams truly are:
Needed
And they will always be,
Until the end of days.
