She looks out of her window
Seeing nothing but big, black sky
Dejected, turns away
When a flash of light catches her eye
Scurrying back, the shooting star shimmers in her gaze
Its edges filled with the promises of hope and light
And that beautiful promise pierces the haze
Of everyday, normal life
Reach out, it whispered
Dare to be brave
And though the sky was so withered
She felt perfectly safe
Taking a risk, she stretched out her arm
The outside cold and unforgiving, harsh winds from afar
But when the star landed in her hand, glowing and warm
She didn’t think about that anymore
Standing up to a height too high
She sucked in a breath and decided to be free
From that old, withered night sky
The only thing she’s ever seen
Leaning out the window to find
It wasn’t as bad as before
So, she finally made up her mind
What to do with the thing she adorers
Goodbye shooting star, she said,
But this is not the end
For I will follow through
Hopefully you will too
Sleepily, she returned to her bed
And realized the star was something it didn’t seem
Because without even noticing
That star was her dream
