Comfort

Isn’t it interesting how when one sees their friends and family and loved ones crying over a mistake, they’ll rush to comfort them? And yet the human brain is odd. One may keep their secrets to themselves, scared of telling others for fear of judgement. Perhaps one feels that they deserve the pain of a mistake, that all they had done had led up to that moment, where hopelessness was the only feeling they carried.

One will often act this way without thought, but maybe one should instead think harder. Think about what one would do when their people were sad, and address it inwards. Better said than done, of course. But mayhaps the only way to capture the same comfort is time? Time to yourself, or time with others. Time to find what makes you feel safe.

Darling child, our time is running short. Do not waste your life in sadness and despair. Find a place or thought or memory where you can breathe and release your burdens, even momentarily. You must not do well to others without doing well to yourself.
